RIP Auali'itia Fa'aluma 'Brisco' Lava - 15 June 1941-13 August 2008
A fitting farewell for a proud Poneke man - I am sincerely thankful and immensely proud of everyone from Poneke Football Club who contributed to his 'koha' and to those club members who attended his funeral and burial.
There is no doubt in my mind that we demonstrated to his family - how valuable a family member of Poneke FC that Brisco was to us.
Our final words come from both Ray & Lee-Anne Rees:
To a true man who gave his heart to Poneke
Once again I am sad by the loss of another 'black n red'
Our deepest sympathy goes out to our friend and family
Brisco you were the face I saw before I ran out to defend our
Clubs' honour and the smile you gave when we returned

Finals format for our remaining Poneke Teams
Even though our Premiers and Senior First squads have finished for 2008 - our remaining Poneke Teams have several more weeks of rugby to be played out. Here is the updated final few weeks for the remaining teams:
The Ruffnuts - Final game 30th August (If in play off otherwise 23rd August)
The Rebels - Final game 30 August (Points win only to win grade)
The Dogs of War - Final game 30th August (Points win only to win grade)
The Cavs - Final game 23rd August
The Hammers - Final game 30th August (Points win only to win grade)
The Hislanders - Final game 30th August (Points win only to win grade)
The Presidents - Final game 30th August
Congratulations to the following Poneke Players - 2008 Wellington Representatives!
We are proud to acknowledge the following players for being selected in their respective squads. For the Vodafone Wellington Lions - Dane Coles and Tane Tu'ipulotu. For the Wellington B Squad - coached by none other than our Assistant Coach - Richard Watt. The players are: Chris Brightwell, Brad Faulkner, Marika Kau, Mase Leuluniu and Misiluni Moananu. In the Wellington Colts Squad - Seti Tafua and for the Wellington U18s Squad - James Pointon. For the training squad of the Wellington Maori Squad - Ally Paine, Haimona Waititi and Dwayne Waterman.

Club Information
Poneke Football Club Inc - established in 1883 - it maintains a long and proud history within the Wellington and New Zealand Rugby community.
The Poneke clubrooms are situated on Kilbirnie Park in the Eastern Suburbs of Wellington. The Club fields up to 25 Junior School Teams and 11 Senior adult Teams, including Under 21s, 2 80/80 weight restricted teams, Presidents, 3 Reserve Grade teams, Senior Three, Two, One and Premier Grade Teams. Each Poneke team positively represents our proud club both on and off the field with the aim to be successful in all of our nominated grades.
